I kept all my mom’s purses when she died. She was a fashion consultant and always told me how important it was to carry a good bag, especially for an interview, and she had a collection of the finest, classic handbags imaginable—the kind that never really go out of style, and cost thousands of dollars. You bet I kept them!
But they took up a lot of room. So I decided to simply donate my own meager collection to a charity that supported lung cancer. But as it turned out, there wasn’t such a thing. But, I DID find an organization in SF that holds an annual purse auction to raise money for breast cancer research. I left my purses with them, but felt sad that lung cancer was so unsupported.
You know, it’s funny, now that my mom is gone, I do everything she ever told me to do—including carrying a good handbag. And I will tell anybody who will listen how important it is to have a good one—that people actually look. They really are just crazy expensive—especially if you want more than one.
But, here’s a neat idea…you can rent them by the week or month through Bag, Borrow or Steal…and always have a great bag for a special occasion…and what’s really nice is that it doesn’t just sit in the closet—just trade for another one when you need it. My mom would have loved this idea.
I decided to mention it here because my newest partner, Wishpot has teamed up with Avelle the New Bag Borrow Steal (think Sex in the City) to bring you an exciting giveaway. Enter to win a fabulous fun red kate spade Designer Handbag! Retail value $429 (http://blogs.wishpot.com/wedding/2009/09/win-kate-spade-designer-handbag.html.)
I love to support good ideas, and I think Wishpot and Bag, Borrow and Steal Bags are wonderful ideas.
Have fun today.

G as in Giving, not G as in Greed. Or so says trendwatching.com (http://www.trendwatching.com/trends/generationg/). Who hasn’t been touched by cancer? I wasn’t until recently, then all of a sudden it was all around me, and the worst part of it all was that nobody seemed to have any real answers about anything except the process of cancer beginning til end. And to add insult to injury, when friends hear you have the big C, they are scared out of their wits and don’t know what to say. That’s why CAREBOX™ was born—to help people feel better, and to raise money towards cure, and to help people help each other.
I am new to blogging, and just trying to find what may be of interest to people. Until I find my inner voice I think I will blog only 4 times a month, on Mondays.
I plan on sharing things that I know, things I have seen, and things I think will become a trend. I have seen the world, more than once. Really know a lot about Paris, so it is sure to come up…and know a thing or two about cancer. So we will see how this goes. I would hate to miss an experience which is so common right now—blogging.
To start off this week, let me just say this: I hate cancer, and want to do something about it. I could use some help, please share your experiences and I can tell you what I have learned. I am basically an artist with a love for business.

I am celebrating today because it is September 11th, and my cousin’s birthday. My favorite cousin, Kelly. A breast cancer survivor for 2 years now.

Short and sweet, that’s me…it’s Friday and I am spending the weekend studying on how to make my way around a blog!
Have a great weekend.
